Steven Pressfield is Terry’s guest talking about his new book DO THE WORK. It’s kicked off with a very personal story of how Terry started to make things happen in his life, loose sight of things, and then recoup. Plus he takes another advice call. Enjoy!
Great podcast Terry. Each one is getting better. Think I’ll be making an amazon purchase soon. Great job…looking forward to more to come.
Shawn
Shawn,
Thanks so much. I’m loving it! Steven Pressfield knows his stuff! DO THE WORK!
Terry
Terry,
I have a lot to say about this podcast. Try to keep it brief as possible.
This podcast and website really is improving. Your Ustream show was a great attempt at something different but the podcast is easier to consume and seems to be more natural, since it’s pretty much radio without breaks.
The way you opened up in the beginning of this episode is a reason why I love Marc Maron’s podcast. It’s personal. You’re sharing with your audience, even more than you do on the morning show.
The talks about reading motivational books and not acting are what I’ve been doing. I love to read and many of the books I’ve bought in the last year were recommended by you (War of Art, both Hugh Macleod books, 2 Richard Bach books, Crush It, etc), even my STEPS workbook. I look forward to the SHAPES follow-up.
War of Art is the one that forced me to be honest with myself and that’s why it’s so great. You’ve opened up concepts and other artists to a new group. Using your name to promote these people and concepts while re-inventing yourself in another media form is
amazing.
I’m been struggling with my current place in life. I’ve honestly revaulated my skill set and passion with where I am in life. I’m on a path to things I’ve been afraid to try but hearing and reading these other people’s accomplishments has helped me to focus on what I really want out of life.
The best part is you’re not doing this for money or ratings. I can tell you love it. It’s also a great stepping stone into something that has potential to be big for you later on. You said it yourself, look at the guests you have FOUR EPISODES IN!
I’ve popped off about ideas that I haven’t finished but i now realize I need to focus on one or two things at a time, then move on to what’s next. (I still owe you promo material and this one gave me another idea for one.)
Thanks for the site and all the interaction you and the Lex and Terry staff do with your audience. It’s the reasons why we support you guys. You actually give a damn.
If you’ve read this much, thank you! I have some writing and editing to do this weekend. Boloviolis!
P.S. I think Tyrese’s book “How to Get Out of Your Own Way” should be on your reading list. Y’all be cool. Reggie Hammond out.
LOL! I bought it!!!!
Anthony,
Thank you so much for the amazing email. It makes me feel like I’m on the right track. As you know, I’m always looking for messages to make sure I’m doing what I need to do. I LOVE L and T – it’s still the most fun 5 hours in my day. But this touches me in a way I can’t even explain.I’m amazed at how many L and T people have given it a shot. I expected much more grief. Trust me, I get some — but nothing like I thought I would.
We do need to talk. I have your number. I’ll try to call you over the weekend.
Thanks for the honest feedback.
Terry
Wow!!! I can not even begin to tell you how much I needed to hear this podcast tonight. I have been doubting myself so much lately after being on top of the world a few years ago. I can really relate to the slow snowball effect as I am deep in it right now. The talk about coming up with new dreams resounded profoundly to me. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Just an fyi…Steven Pressfield referenced the rule that Malcolm Gladwell wrote about (10,000 hour rule, etc.) and you said you weren’t familiar with it. Gladwell wrote a recent book called Outliers about that topic. I would recommend it for sure.
Keep it up, brother.
Thanks!
Thanks Red!
Steven Pressfield is perfect for what I’m doing. NO BS NO EXCUSES! – Get both of those books!
Terry
I got a little busy last week and didn’t get to tune in, but I listened today and enjoyed it. He’s right about the cash flow of writting books, but I really enjoy doing it and not going to give up on just for that reason. Your killing it Terry, keep it up.
Emanuel,
Thanks so much man. The writing can pay off though. I envy those who can make a great living off of it. You’re on your way!
Terry
Terry:
Will do more research on this guy…and his books. Sounds
like a quality guy that calls it as it is.
Thanks for the exposure to this material.
Thanks,
Jay
